Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.</p> <h3><strong>What You'll Do</strong></h3> <p>Epic Games is seeking an experienced Senior Language Programmer to join our Verse team, which owns the toolchain (compiler, VM, and runtime) that powers game development in Unreal Engine and UEFN. You'll work on the systems every UE and UEFN developer relies on to build and ship games with Verse.</p> <h3><strong>In this role, you will</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Extend, evolve, and maintain the Verse compiler toolchain, transactional memory runtime and VM, add new platform support, implement new language features and integrate with Unreal Engine's content, build, and cooking pipelines</li> <li>Optimize performance, memory usage, and iteration times across the Verse toolchain, runtime and UE/Verse boundary</li> <li>Work closely with language consumers to ensure an exceptional user experience</li> <li>Establish test workflows to validate improvements and prevent regressions</li> <li>Design and maintain the scripting interface to Unreal Engine, working in close collaboration with the Verse Language team and the broader UE organization</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What we're looking for</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Expert knowledge of C++17 or later</li> <li>Experience in compiler or toolchain development (e.g., compiler internals, VM design, Clang/LLVM, or linker/platform ABI specifics)</li> <li>Experience developing and optimizing large codebases, with the ability to make tradeoffs between usability, performance, and power</li> <li>Strong ability to reason about large, interconnected systems</li> <li>Solid grounding in software programming principles, including API design</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work autonomously and deliver practical solutions</li> <li>Experience with Unreal Engine integration is a plus</li> </ul> <h2>EPIC JOB + EPIC BENEFITS = EPIC LIFE</h2> <p><span data-sheets-userformat="{"2":13201,"3":{"1":0},"7":{"1":[{"1":2,"2":0,"5":{"1":2,"2":13421772}},{"1":0,"2":0,"3":3},{"1":1,"2":0,"4":1}]},"10":0,"11":4,"12":0,"15":"Roboto","16":10}">We pay 100% for benefits for both employees and dependents and offer coverage for supplemental medical, dental, vision, critical illness, telemedicine, Life and AD&D, long term disability insurance as well as weekly indemnity (short term disability) and a retirement savings plan with a competitive employer match.
