We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown. </p> <p>We are looking for a lab-based Research Scientist II to join our Vancouver team and become a bridge between our <em>in vivo</em> models and the biological insights that shape our pipeline’s future. Working alongside experienced pharmacologists, you will support the design, execution, and analysis of <em>in vivo</em> studies that reveal how our drug to candidates behave in physiologically relevant settings to inform important go/no-go decisions on our programs. This is hands-on, detail-driven science, and your rigour and curiosity will play a direct role in getting new medicines closer to the patients who need them. </p> <p><strong>H</strong><strong>ow you might spend your days </strong></p> <ul> <li>Working with team members and project teams to define the preclinical <em>in vivo </em>strategy to advance pipeline programs from hit identification through candidate selection</li> <li>Collaborating with the In Vivo Models Team to design, develop, and validate novel animal models to expand internal capabilities and capture complex disease biology</li> <li>Designing, coordinating, and interpreting robust <em>in vivo</em> efficacy and pharmacology studies to generate efficacy data and build high confidence in lead candidate selection</li> <li>Collaborating with <em>in vitro</em> biology, protein engineering, and pharmacokinetics (PK/PD) scientists, as well as external CROs, to execute translational studies to screen and optimize lead molecules and advance programs toward human clinical trials</li> <li>Developing, performing, and supervising sample analysis to assess target engagement, biomarker modulation, and downstream pathway effects</li> <li>Training and mentoring junior scientists in <em>ex vivo</em> experimental plans and analytical methodologies</li> <li>Synthesizing and reporting complex research findings to internal program teams and senior leadership to enable clear, data-driven decisions</li> </ul> <p><strong>W</strong><strong>e’d love to hear from you if</strong></p> <ul> <li>You have a PhD in pharmacology, immunology, or a related field with 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, or an MSc with 5-8 years of experience, including hands-on work in oncology, immuno-oncology, and biologics drug development</li> <li>You have hands-on experience designing and interpreting in vivo pharmacology models to assess PK, PD, and efficacy of test articles </li> <li>You have a strong understanding of research ethics specific to animal care</li> <li>You are genuinely curious, with an interest in discussing innovative ideas in a highly collaborative, cross-functional and fast paced environment</li> <li>You communicate scientific and/or technical concepts effectively, with an emphasis on application</li> <li>You have a proven track record of independently identifying project needs and translating them into practical, well-executed solutions </li> <li>You enjoy tackling complex biological questions and building datasets that help predict which therapies will succeed</li> </ul> <p><strong>W</strong><strong>hat we offer</strong></p> <p>AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $95,000 - $112,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
