Recognized as a Glassdoor Top 100 Best Place to Work, we offer a collaborative and caring community where you feel like you belong and are empowered to grow, learn and thrive through hands-on experience, certifications, industry training and more. </div> <div> </div> <div>Join us to drive positive, lasting change that moves missions and the government forward!</div> <div> </div> </div></div><p>As a Data Governance & Catalog Specialist at AFS, you will implement and manage the data cataloging and metadata strategy for the product.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>The work:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Act as the primary quality and testing authority for data products, serving as the bridge between engineering teams and mission data consumers.</li> <li>Help advise mission partners at the Air Force Base on what good data products should look like, including service‑level agreements (SLAs), service‑level objectives (SLOs), availability expectations, and quality standards.</li> <li>Develop and execute test plans for data pipelines, APIs, and data products to ensure accuracy, completeness, reliability, and compliance with requirements.</li> <li>Perform functional testing from a consumer perspective, ensuring data is discoverable in the enterprise catalog, accessible through APIs, and aligned with documented metadata.</li> <li>Help mission users understand tools and methods for cleaning, interpreting, and translating raw data into structured, usable formats.</li> <li>Utilize catalog and metadata tools, automated metadata tagging services, Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir, and/or Collibra to support data quality validation and catalog readiness.</li> <li>Serve as a member of the Enabling Team, advocating for data mesh principles and supporting DME adoption by helping consumers find, understand, and use data products.</li> <li>Create and maintain user-facing documentation, tutorials, and “getting started” guides.</li> <li>Gather feedback from early adopters and mission partners to maintain a continuous improvement loop for both the data products and the underlying platform.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Here’s what you need:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret</li> <li>Strong user-level experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman).</li> <li>Experience using data catalog interfaces such as Snowflake, Collibra and metadata tagging platforms.</li> <li>Familiarity with SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data validation, cleansing, and analysis.</li> <li>Experience in data quality assurance, functional testing, and developing technical documentation.</li> <li>Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand data from both the technical engineering and mission-user perspectives.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate consumer needs into actionable technical feedback for developers.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Preferred Qualific
