Addepar supports clients worldwide with offices in New York City, Salt Lake City, São Paulo, London, Edinburgh, Geneva, Warsaw, Dubai, Pune and Singapore.</p></div><h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Role</strong></span></h4> <p>We are currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Calculation Engines team which operates the critical servers, caching layers, and communication protocols which power Addepar’s financial analytics and reporting product. More than 95% of all Addepar traffic flows through this infrastructure; you will be responsible for the next generation of development, tooling, and CI/CD systems which empower Addepar to serve our clients.</p> <p>Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without requiring current or future visa sponsorship (for example, employment-based visas such as H-1B, F-1/OPT, or similar), and must be authorized to begin work in the U.S. on their first day of employment.</p> <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></span></h4> <ul> <li>Design and build distributed microservice components in Addepar’s calculation engine - a data intensive application</li> <li>Scale our Java-based calculation engine to 100x larger workloads using best-of-breed time series analytics database technologies</li> <li>Get involved in the decision process to make the best decision to scale with the consideration of data consistency, throughput, speed, operability and cost</li> <li>Profile and improve system efficiency in a highly concurrent platform</li> </ul> <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Who You Are</strong></span></h4> <ul> <li>7+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience</li> <li>Experience with Object Oriented programming languages</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Ability to explore complex problems spaces objectively from multiple points of view, utilizing both legacy tools and modern technologies to drive outcomes</li> <li>General familiarity with some of the technologies we use: </li> <ul> <li>Java, Python, SQL, SQS, relational databases and key-value stores.</li> <li>Kubernetes</li> <li>Linux proficiency, basic shell scripting and a solid grasp of systems level programming is a plus</li> </ul> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p>Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
