Job Description
<p><strong>Wage: $22.69-$30.36</strong></p> <p><strong>Status: Permanent Full-Time (35-40 hours per week)</strong></p> <p><strong>Location of Work: 150 Condor Road, Whitehorse, Yukon</strong></p> <p><strong>Language of Work: English </strong></p> <p>The Baker reports to the Chef & Manager of Catering and Cabin Services and is responsible for leading and supervising the day-to-day activities of the retail/baking department. This role is additionally responsible for preparing all baked goods for the Air North flight kitchen and the Black Wolf Bistro.</p> <p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Prepare all aspects of the food production for the retail/baking production according to established standards</li> <li>Bake and prepare a variety of products from scratch, including muffins, pastries, breakfast loaves, cakes and desserts for Air North flights, retail sales, and events</li> <li>Bake mixed doughs and batters</li> <li>Assist with training of new staff</li> <li>Maintain a level of food preparation consistent with business levels & leadership direction</li> <li>Maintain department equipment in good order & report any defective/damaged equipment</li> <li>Ensure opening/closing security procedures are followed to established guidelines</li> <li>Contribute to and cultivate a team environment and provide support, motivation and encouragement to peers</li> <li>Provide menu development input</li> <li>Draw up production schedules</li> <li>Ensure sanitary cooking conditions and appropriate safe food handling is adhered to</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications/Conditions of Employment:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent</li> <li>Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract</li> <li>Combination of culinary/baker apprenticeship and experience exceeding 3 years</li> <li>Experience producing quality baked goods by hand and with machinery</li> <li>Proven experience in cake finishing, decorating, and plating</li> <li>Large batch baking experience is an asset</li> <li>Diploma in the culinary field or Red Seal</li> <li>Experience in maintaining records or food time/temperatures logs, food costing reports, consumption, sales and inventory</li> <li>Experience in planning and directing food preparation and cooking/baking</li> <li>Must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or show proof of right to work in Canada</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits Package:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Local & international flight benefits</li> <li>Employer-paid health & dental</li> <li>Group RRSP investment options</li> <li>Cargo shipping</li> <li>Vehicle and home heating discounts through Chieftain Energy</li> </ul> <p><strong>How to Apply:</strong></p> <p><strong>Please submit your resume and cover letter to the Human Resources Department:</strong></p> <p><strong> </strong><strong>Email: </strong><a href="mailto:talent@flyairnorth.com">talent@flyairnorth.com</a></p> <p>&
