We welcome candidates from the southern Twin Cities metro and beyond to apply. </p> <p>Employees working in Faribault, MN have a short commute from Northfield, Owatonna, Dundas, Medford, Lakeville, Farmington, Waseca, and Lonsdale, and will enjoy professional growth and community engagement through our regional presence in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.</p> <p>As an <strong>Electrical Design Engineer - Power Electronics & Thermal Systems</strong>, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Drive cost savings, margin improvement, and design enhancements across electrical systems and product lines</li> <li>Perform electrical design, modeling, and analysis for new products and existing electrical assemblies</li> <li>Apply power conversion theory to optimize system performance, reliability, and efficiency</li> <li>Design and analyze power‑electronics systems, including IGBT‑based topologies and high‑frequency switching architectures</li> <li>Develop and optimize high‑frequency busbar designs, including skin‑effect considerations, materials selection, and topology improvements</li> <li>Support research, development, and engineering initiatives, including concept development and early‑stage electrical design</li> <li>Conduct CFD/CFX analysis to evaluate electronics cooling, airflow, and thermal performance</li> <li>Design and validate electronics cooling strategies and thermal‑management solutions for high‑power assemblies</li> <li>Contribute to sustaining engineering activities such as cost‑reduction projects and engineering change requests</li> <li>Participate in continuous improvement efforts that strengthen product quality, reduce variation, and streamline electrical assembly processes</li> <li>Collaborate closely with suppliers and internal engineering partners to resolve design challenges and improve manufacturability</li> <li>Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners</li> <li>Contribute to projects that impact communities in Northfield, Owatonna, Dundas, Medford, Lakeville, Farmington, Waseca, and Lonsdale, and the greater southern Twin Cities metro</li> <li>Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required</li> <li>4+ years of electrical engineering experience</li> <li>Experience with electrical design, modeling, and documentation</li> <li>Knowledge of power conversion theory and high‑power electrical systems</li> <li>Experience with power electronics, including IGBT‑based systems and high‑frequency switching architectures</li> <li>Experience designing or analyzing high‑frequency busbars, including skin‑effect considerations, materials, and topology optimization</li> <li>Experience with CFD/CFX analysis for electronics cooling and thermal‑management applications</li> <li>Familiarity with sustaining engineering, cost‑reduction initiatives, and ECR processes</li> <li>Ability to identify and execute des
