The marine industry is going electric and Arc is building the platform that powers it.</p> <h2>Who we're looking for</h2> <p>We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details. </p> <p>This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You’ll report to the Lead Mechanical Hardware Engineer and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters.</p> <h2>What you'll do</h2> <ul> <li>Designing and releasing hardware across the full boat, including: <ul> <li>Composite structures: hull, deck, stringer, hatches, and hardtop, with Class A surfacing for visible parts</li> <li>Interiors & mechanisms: upholstery, tower, windshield, storage</li> <li>Marine systems<em>:</em> ballast, bilge, steering, cooling, and surf tabs</li> </ul> </li> <li>Owning hardware from specification through design, prototyping, validation, and high-volume manufacturing, including assembly structure, mass, cost and schedule.</li> <li>Leading prototyping through on water testing, root-causing failures, and driving fixes into production</li> <li>Integrating with battery, powertrain, electrical, and controls teams on packaging and interfaces</li> <li>Partnering with industrial design, suppliers, and manufacturing on DFM and next-generation products</li> </ul> <h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field</li> <li>2+ years of industry experience (internships count!)</li> <li>Proficiency in CAD (NX preferred, CATIA, or SolidWorks) and understands PLM systems</li> <li>Basic grasp of the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering and analysis</li> <li>Willingness to provide hands on support with fabrication and assembly</li> <li>Ability to articulate and defend design decisions</li> <li>Comfortable working hands-on in production or traveling to suppliers when needed</li> <li>Clear written and verbal communication</li> <li>Strong time management & prioritization skills</li> </ul> <h2>Bonus Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Design for manufacturing experience</li> <li>Experience with composite structures (ideally fiberglass)</li> <li>Soft goods experience</li> <li>Have worked alongside industrial design teams</li> <li>Tooling design experience</li> <li>Comfortable pushing at a fast but sustainable pace</li> <li>Enthusiasm for boating and the water</li> </ul> <p>At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status.
