<p><strong>What the Role Is</strong></p> <p>Babylist Health helps families get the durable medical equipment (DME) they need — and getting the insurance side right is what makes that possible. As an Insurance Billing Specialist, you own the billing cycle end to end: verifying eligibility, submitting clean claims, chasing timely reimbursement, and clearing aged accounts. You’ll report to the Senior Billing Specialist Supervisor, and work across the business to keep billing accurate, compliant, and patient-centered. <strong>This is a fully onsite role at our office just outside of Baltimore.</strong> The work is detailed and high-stakes — when you get it right, a family gets essential equipment without delays or surprise bills.</p> <p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>You own insurance billing across the full cycle</strong> — eligibility verification, prior authorizations, claim submission, denial management, appeals, and aged-account resolution — with a real track record of improving collections and reducing outstanding balances.</li> <li><strong>Hands-on DME billing experience is essential</strong> — you’ve been directly responsible for billing outcomes on durable medical equipment claims, not just adjacent to them.</li> <li><strong>You can read an EOB and know the next move</strong> — accurately identifying coverage, payments, denials, adjustments, and patient responsibility, then deciding whether to rebill, appeal, escalate, or close.</li> <li><strong>You’re fluent in medical coding and compliance</strong> — CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10, plus the standards that govern DME billing (HIPAA, CMS, ERISA, ACA).</li> <li><strong>You’re hands-on with Brightree and NikoHealth</strong> and can work in both without ramp-up; familiarity with other billing/EMR systems (Epic, Kareo, AdvancedMD) is a plus.</li> <li>You bring at least 3 years of professional insurance billing and eligibility experience where you were directly responsible for billing outcomes.</li> <li>You’re a clear, empathetic communicator — able to explain a denial or a patient-responsibility balance to a patient, provider, or payer without jargon and without losing patience.</li> <li>You’re detail-obsessed and organized, holding accuracy steady while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.</li> <li>You naturally reach for AI in your work — at Babylist, every team uses AI daily. You’re already using it to move faster and improve your output, and you stay curious about what’s coming next.</li> </ul> <p><strong>How You Will Make An Impact</strong></p> <ul> <li>Verify eligibility and run benefit investigations through payer portals and direct payer outreach.</li> <li>Submit, track, and follow up on claims to speed reimbursement and cut denials.</li> <li>Work aged accounts — find what’s blocking payment and drive each balance to resolution.</li> <li>Own EOB review from read to resolution: rebill, appeal, escalate, or close.</li> <li>Draft and submit well-documented appeals on denied claims.</li> <li>Walk patients through their benefits and billing questions with clarity and empathy.</li> <li>Partner with internal teams to tighten workflows, strengthen compliance, and improve the patient experience.</li> <li>Put AI-enabled tools to work on billing and reimbursement — without trading away accuracy or compliance.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why This Role</strong></p> <ul> <li>The stakes are human and immediate — clean billing is the difference between a family getting essential equipment on time or facing delays and surprise costs.</li> <li>You ow
