BGE goes beyond competitive benefits to attract and retain the best in an environment that inspires excellence.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p></div><p>Field Archaeologist - Temporary Project Based</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Location</strong>: <strong>Houston (</strong>Address: 10777 Westheimer Rd #400, Houston, TX 77042)</p> <p> </p> <p>-Temporary position (no benefits offered): you may work 40 hours + some weeks and 0 another week-</p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Job Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Conduct phase one archaeological surveys including pedestrian surveys and shovel testing to identify presence or absence of cultural resources.</li> <li>Assist with excavation and trenching activities as needed, primarily in Texas and surrounding regions</li> <li>Collect and document field data using tablets, GPS devices, and maintain detailed photo logs.</li> <li>Support preparation of reports, background research, and site documentation for archaeological projects.</li> <li>Collaborate with project leads and team members to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Participate in fieldwork under the guidance of experienced crew chiefs, with opportunities for mentorship and skill development.</li> <li>Communicate findings and technical information clearly to project managers and team members.</li> <li>Adhere to safety protocols and carry out fieldwork in various weather conditions, often requiring travel within Texas and to other states.</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Job Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Career focus on cultural resources fieldwork, archaeological investigations or related industry.</li> <li><strong><u>Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology</u></strong> upperclassmen nearing graduation with relevant field school experience will also be considered.</li> <li>Solid organizational skills and proficiency in technical data entry and report documentation.</li> <li>Effective time-management, written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Professional presence with the ability to make sound decisions in field and office settings.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in team environments and establish strong working relationships across project teams.</li> <li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using tablets and GPS technology for field data collection; GIS experience is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to navigate through rugged terrain using a compass</li> <li>Knowledge of archaeological field methods such as pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and trenching preferred.</li> <li>Ability to appropriately identify and document archaeological sites</li> <
