BGE goes beyond competitive benefits to attract and retain the best in an environment that inspires excellence.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p></div><p>Field Archaeologist - Temporary Project Based - Austin (North Austin office or South Austin Office) or San Antonio Office and surrounding areas</p> <p>Temporary position (<strong>no benefits offered</strong>): you may work 40 hours + some weeks and 0 another week</p> <h2>Job Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li value="1">Conduct phase one archaeological surveys including pedestrian surveys and shovel testing to identify presence or absence of cultural resources.</li> <li value="2">Assist with excavation and trenching activities as needed, primarily in Texas and surrounding regions (Possibly Oklahoma)</li> <li value="3">Collect and document field data using tablets, GPS devices, and maintain detailed photo logs.</li> <li value="4">Support preparation of reports, background research, and site documentation for archaeological projects.</li> <li value="5">Collaborate with project leads and team members to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with regulatory requirements.</li> <li value="6">Participate in fieldwork under the guidance of experienced crew chiefs, with opportunities for mentorship and skill development.</li> <li value="7">Communicate findings and technical information clearly to project managers and team members.</li> <li value="8">Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry; GIS experience is a plus.</li> <li value="9">Adhere to safety protocols and carry out fieldwork in various weather conditions, often requiring travel within North Texas and occasionally to other states.</li> </ul> <h2>Job Requirements</h2> <ul> <li value="1">Career focus on cultural resources fieldwork in archaeological surveys or related environmental studies.</li> <li value="2"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology</strong></span> upperclassmen nearing graduation with relevant field school experience will also be considered.</li> <li value="3">Solid organizational skills and proficiency in technical data entry and report documentation.</li> <li value="4">Effective time-management, written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.</li> <li value="5">Professional presence with the ability to make sound decisions in field and office settings.</li> <li value="6">Ability to work effectively in team environments and establish strong working relationships across project teams.</li> <li value="7">Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using tablets and GPS technology for field data collection; GIS experience is a plus.</li> <li value="8">Must be able to conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.</li> <li value="9">Knowl
