<p><strong>About the Position:</strong></p> <p>Bluefish is looking for an experienced <strong>Controller</strong> to lead and own the full accounting lifecycle for our growing organization. This role requires deep operational expertise, a strategic mindset, and a hands-on approach to building scalable financial systems. You’ll oversee everything from client billing setup and revenue recognition to monthly close, financial reporting, and bank reconciliations—playing a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions.</p> <p>You should be passionate about operational excellence, financial integrity, and working cross-functionally to support fast-paced growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-autonomy environments and is excited to help shape the financial foundation of a scaling business.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Be Doing</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own and manage the end-to-end accounting function—from client billing setup and invoicing to revenue recognition and monthly close.</li> <li>Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.</li> <li>Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Customer Success to ensure accurate contract set-up and billing.</li> <li>Establish and improve processes for invoicing, collections, revenue tracking, and cost allocations.</li> <li>Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, revenue, AR, and deferred revenue.</li> <li>Manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.</li> <li>Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and internal controls.</li> <li>Support internal and external audits, compliance reporting, and tax filings.</li> <li>Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and tools.</li> <li>Serve as a strategic advisor on financial operations, reporting, and planning initiatives.</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years in a managerial or senior-level role.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial reporting.</li> <li>Experience in SaaS or subscription-based businesses highly preferred.</li> <li>Proven ability to build and scale accounting operations in a fast-growing company.</li> <li>Familiarity with ERP systems and billing platforms.(e.g., Rillet, QuickBooks, Stripe, Ramp, Aleph, or similar) </li> <li>Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.</li> <li>Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.</li> <li>CPA preferred but not required.</li> <li>Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced, high-growth environment is required, alongside comfort with cross-functional collaboration.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>About Bluefish:</strong></p> <p>Bluefish is the enterprise marketing engine for AI.
