Senior Backup Administrator

We are seeking a skilled Backup Engineer with expertise in Commvault, AWS Cloud, and Python scripting to manage enterprise backup and recovery environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring data protection, disaster recovery readiness, backup automation, storage optimization, and compliance across on-premises and cloud infrastructures. Technical Requirements: Technical Skills • Commvault Backup Administration • AWS Services: o EC2 o EBS o S3 o RDS o Aurora o IAM o CloudWatch • Python Scripting • Linux Administration (RHEL/CentOS) • Backup & Recovery Concepts • Disaster Recovery Planning • Database backup and recovery • Good to have understanding on Storage Technologies (NAS, SAN, FSx, NetApp) Preferred Skills • Commvault • Python • Monitoring tools and automation frameworks • ITIL Incident, Change, and Problem Management Responsibilities: Backup Administration • Manage and administer Commvault backup infrastructure. • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup and restore operations. • Perform server, file system, database, and application recovery activities. • Maintain backup policies, schedules, retention, and lifecycle management. • Conduct periodic disaster recovery and restore testing. • Ensure compliance with defined RPO and RTO requirements. AWS Backup & Cloud Operations • Manage AWS backup solutions for EC2, EBS, RDS, Aurora, FSx, and S3 workloads. • Implement snapshot, agent-based, and cloud-native backup strategies. • Configure IAM roles, encryption, and security controls for backup operations. • Support cross-region and cross-account backup and recovery solutions. • Optimize cloud storage costs using lifecycle policies and tiered storage. Automation & Python Scripting • Develop Python scripts for: o Backup health checks o Automated reporting o Alert management o Backup validation o Log analysis o Capacity monitoring • Automate routine operational tasks to reduce manual intervention. • Integrate backup workflows with monitoring and ticketing systems. Monitoring & Incident Management • Monitor backup jobs and troubleshoot failures. • Perform root cause analysis for backup and restore issues. • Handle critical incidents and ensure SLA compliance. • Generate operational and management reports. • Work closely with infrastructure, database, application, and cloud teams. Security & Compliance • Implement backup encryption and ransomware protection mechanisms. • Support compliance audits and data retention requirements. • Maintain immutable backup copies and cyber-resiliency controls. • Ensure adherence to organizational security standards.
